MADAGASCAR CULTURE & NATURE
This itinerary combines some of the wildlife hotspots of Madagascar with the opportunity to experience some of its culture through its music, cuisine, crafts and funerary arts.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Depart at 16h55 from Paris CDG on the Air Madagascar overnight flight to Antananarivo.
Day 2: Arrive in Antananarivo. Your guide will meet you and take you to have breakfast and freshen up before you set off for the rainforests of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Introductory walks in the park. Stay 3 nights at Vakona Forest Lodge, breakfast included.
Day 3: Day for the Reserve Special d'Indri (Perinet). Evening walk for the nocturnal species, if desired.
Day 4: Day for Mantadia National Park. Evening walk in the forest of Mitsinjo.
Day 5: Depart for the old colonial thermal spa town Antsirabe where you visit the different craft workshops. Stay 2 nights in the new building of Résidence Camélia, breakfast included.
Day 6: Explore the market, visit other craft workshops, see the thermal baths and the colonial architecture and ride in a pousse-pousse, if desired. Travel to Antananarivo and overnight at La Varangue, breakfast included.
Day 7: Fly to Fort Dauphin, and transfer to Berenty Private Reserve. Stay 2 nights at Berenty Lodge, dinner and breakfast included.
Day 8: Explore Berenty with your private English-speaking guide.
Day 9: After most of the day in Berenty, drive back to Fort Dauphin. Overnight at La Croix du Sud, dinner and breakfast included.
Day 10: Fly to Tuléar and travel overland to Isalo. Stop en route at the Andranovory Mahafaly Tombs. Stay 2 nights at Relais de la Reine, dinner and breakfast included.
Day 11: Explore Isalo National Park with your guide. Enjoy the sandstone rock formations and some rock-clinging vegetation and look for lemurs in the dense stream-side vegetation. You may also observe Bara coffins in some of the caves.
Day 12: Drive back to Tuléar and tour the city, including the fascinating, university-run cultural museum and botanical garden, Arboretum d'Antsokay. Overnight at Paille en Queue, breakfast included.
Day 13: Transfer to the port for the boat trip to Anakao. Stay 3 nights at Anakao Club Resort, breakfast and dinner included.
Day 14: Day at leisure to enjoy Anakao.
Day 15: Excursion to the offshore island of Nosy Ve.
Day 16: Transfer to Tulear for the flight to Antananarivo where you visit the artisans market and tour the city. Overnight at La Varangue, breakfast included.
Day 17: Continue your exploration of the capital with an excursion to Ambohimanga and other historic and quirky sights. On a Sunday, you could include watching an hira gasy or attending a mass celebrated by Pere Pedro.
Return to the airport for the Air Madagascar overnight flight to Paris.
Day 18: Arrive in the early morning.

MADAGASCAR MADE EASY
ITINERARY
Sat:
Depart from London Heathrow on the Alitalia flight to Milan and connect with the Air Madagascar overnight flight to Antananarivo*.
Sun:
On arrival, you will be met by your private, English-speaking guide and driver. Travel through Merina villages, past rice paddy fields to the rainforest reserves of Périnet and Mantadia - the journey takes about 3 hours on decent roads. Stay 3 nights at Vakona Forest Lodge, all meals included. The hotel has a pool and can arrange horse-riding in the rainforest [extra charge].
Your guide will take you on an introductory walk in the forest, home to the largest surviving lemur, the indri. Many other lemur species, a host of birds and reptiles dwell in this magnificent primeval rainforest.
Mon:
Full day to explore the wonders of Périnet. In the evening, you will be taken into the forest to seek the nocturnal species, among them the Eastern wooly lemur, sportive lemur, greater dwarf lemur and rufous mouse lemur. This is the best time to spot the abundant chameleons and tree frogs.
Tues:
Mantadia is a beautiful primary montane rainforest. Although only a short distance from Périnet, it holds a select band of sought-after birds and rare mammals not found in Périnet.
Wed:
You can spend a good part of the day in the rainforest, seeking species previously missed or just savouring the beauty of the habitat. In the afternoon, depart for Antananarivo - your guide will be pleased to stop along the way so you can take pictures or look at one of the village markets - where you overnight at The Royal Palissandre, breakfast included. Antananarivo has a number of superb restaurants. Your guide will be pleased to advise you about evening entertainment.
Thurs:
You will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for the air transfer to Anjajavy to stay 4 nights in a luxury bungalow, all meals and many activities included.
Facilities include a large, sparkling pool, a variety of watersports, mountain bikes, and direct dial phones. There is magnificent big game fishing to be had - Tuna, Wahoo, King fish, Sailfish and Marlin. There are seven beautiful, deserted beaches to explore, as well as the protected tropical deciduous forest - with baobabs and palissandre - behind the lodge, inhabited by a variety of lemurs and a wealth of birdlife.
Fri:
Air transfer to Antananarivo. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to overnight at Hotel Palissandre, breakfast included.
Sat:
You will be taken on a city tour and to visit the artisans market. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the airport to check in for the Air Madagascar overnight flight to Milan.
Sun:
On arrival in Milan, connect with the Alitalia flight to London. Arrive London Heathrow.
